Amman, Jan 5 (Petra) - Minister of Youth Raed Adwan and Minister of Environment Ayman Suleiman on Monday discussed the Ministry of Youth’s action plan within the executive program of the national cleanliness strategy and efforts to curb random littering as part of the follow-up to joint meetings between the two sides in light of the outcomes of the preparatory committee meeting for the executive program for 2026–2027.
During the meeting, held at the Ministry of Youth, Adwan presented the ministry’s planned programs, which include awareness sessions targeting youth, volunteers and activists engaged in climate and environmental work, in addition to sports clubs and various segments of society.
The plan also includes volunteer programs and campaigns to be implemented during sports events and at youth centers, such as the "Green Visions and a Prosperous Future" program aimed at collecting solid waste and the "Sawn for Climate Action" program, as well as education and training initiatives, the Green Youth Center, environmental entrepreneurship forums in business incubators and youth corners, the organization of environmental competitions, the formation of environmental volunteer teams, and the organization of environmental camps, part of Al-Hussein Camps for Work and Construction 2026.
Adwan said the ministry will implement its programs during the winter holiday to make use of young people’s free time by carrying out volunteer cleanliness campaigns across all youth directorates in the governorates, targeting areas designated by the Ministry of Environment, as well as tourist and archaeological sites.
For his part, Suleiman praised the pillars of the Ministry of Youth’s executive plan, which focus on youth as the largest segment of society and the main driver of sustainable development pathways.
Suleiman stressed the importance of raising awareness and strengthening community participation, noting that the executive program of the cleanliness strategy is not limited to temporary campaigns or short-term activities but rather constitutes an integrated national program and a national responsibility borne by official and national institutions, private sector institutions, mosques, churches, and youth and volunteer organizations.
The meeting was attended by Secretary General of the Ministry of Environment Omar Arabiyat and a number of directors of relevant departments in both ministries.
